Elvis and Priscilla
The story of Elvis and Priscilla began a with 24 year old Elvis, a solider within the U.S forces, and 14 year old Priscilla, as the step daughter of Paul Beaulieu, a United States Air Force officer, in Wisbaden, Germany.
On a Sunday evening of September of1959 a friend of both Elvis and Priscilla invited the young lady over to meet the star. After arriving Elvis' home Priscilla remained lost for words during their first encounter as Elvis attempted to impress her with his musical talents.
Almost as soon as Elvis returned to the United States rumors of relations with other Hollywood stars began leaving a puzzled Priscilla. Such bewilderment continued for two more years as Elvis' relationships with actress Anita Wood and other celebrities were both real and rumored. Elvis and Priscilla kept in contact but her place was never quite affirmed.
Finally after officially ending his five year fling with Anita Wood he set his pursuits upon Priscilla and took on the challenge obtaining her parents permission to have her visit him. Priscilla was permitted to visit Elvis for two weeks with the guidelines her parents be provided an itinerary for each day, write a letter each day, and never stay the night with Elvis. However when Priscilla arrived to L.A Elvis has a separate agenda for the two as he took Priscilla to Las Vegas to share a suite and transformed the teenybopper into a glamorous lady with a head to toe make over. Six months later Priscilla visited Elvis in Graceland but Elvis needed more than just the occasional visit from the girl he wanted, needed, and loved. With his keenest and sincerest of charms he persuaded Priscilla parents to allow her to move to Memphis where she would be chaperoned at all times, live with Elvis' father Vernon, and receive the best education at The Emmaculate Conception Cathedral High School an all girls private schools.
As Priscilla finished her secondary education the rock star was on movie sets around the nation and world which inevitably caused a strain within their relationship. However in December of 1966 Elvis proposed to Priscilla nearly seven years after their first meeting. They couple was wed at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas where their ceremony took no more than ten minuets. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon at the Palms Springs and on May 29 they held their official reception amongst their dear ones in Memphis. Lisa Marie Presley the couples only child was born on February 1, 1968. There was no doubt that Elvis was a loving father as he took any and all opportunity to spoil his daughter with showers of gifts and love.
Though Priscilla and Elvis were able to maintain a relationship they were unable to maintain a steady marriage and therefor divorced on October 9, 1973.
